Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced that the government will reoffer the Citizen Bond in the coming days through post offices nationwide, noting that the first issuance witnessed strong demand from citizens and generated significant proceeds within just three weeks.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the minister said the bond provides a fixed annual return of 17.75 %, net of taxes, paid on a monthly basis for a period of 18 months.
He added that the new issuance represents a good opportunity for citizens to make a safe, direct investment in government securities.
Kouchouk explained that the bond carries a nominal value of EGP 1,000 and its multiples, with a minimum investment requirement of EGP 10,000.
He stressed that the initiative aims to provide citizens with a reliable savings and investment tool offering a distinctive, fixed periodic return paid monthly over the 18-month term.
The finance minister also confirmed that investors can redeem the bond easily after four months, either partially or in full, in accordance with the announced rules and procedures available at post offices.
