Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad discussed opportunities for expanding environmental investment in Peace Park and several natural reserves as part of the country’s broader push toward green economy and eco-tourism projects.

Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad held talks with Hossam El Shaer to discuss opportunities for expanding environmental investment in Peace Park and several natural reserves across the country.

The meeting was attended by engineer Sherif Abdel Rahim, alongside senior ministry officials and advisors.

During the discussions, Awad stressed that environmental investment has become one of the Egyptian state’s priorities during the current phase, describing it as a promising path for developing state resources and maximizing the value of Egypt’s protected natural areas.

Awad said environmental investment and eco-tourism projects have become central pillars of Egypt’s broader green economy strategy.

Expanding eco-tourism and green investment

The minister said the strategy aligns with Egypt’s broader shift toward the green economy and supports the country’s efforts to expand eco-tourism, a sector witnessing growing demand both locally and internationally.

According to Awad, environmentally sustainable tourism projects inside natural reserves could help generate economic returns while preserving biodiversity and promoting responsible tourism practices.
