Egypt ramps up Eid market preparations and launches QR-based electronic visa system at Cairo Airport.
El Homsani said the government has intensified preparations to ensure the availability of essential goods and meat supplies at affordable prices.
Egypt is stepping up market controls and food supply measures ahead of Eid Al-Adha while also launching a new digital visa system at Cairo International Airport to streamline tourist entry procedures.
Egyptian government spokesperson Mohamed El Homsani said the government has intensified preparations to ensure the availability of essential goods and meat supplies at affordable prices ahead of Eid Al-Adha, in line with directives issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Speaking during a phone interview on Extra News channel, El Homsani said authorities are working to inject additional quantities of food products into local markets to meet rising consumer demand during the holiday season.
He added that full coordination is currently underway between the Ministry of Supply, the Ministry of Interior, the Consumer Protection Agency, the Egyptian Competition Authority, and other regulatory bodies.
The efforts aim to intensify market inspections, monitor slaughterhouses, prevent unjustified price hikes, combat monopolistic practices, and ensure sufficient supplies of essential commodities across the country.
Authorities are coordinating to secure supplies and control prices during the holiday season.
El Homsani also announced that Egypt has begun implementing a new digital system for electronic visas using QR Code technology at Cairo International Airport.
The system is expected to be gradually expanded across Egypt’s airports in the coming phase.
According to the cabinet spokesperson, the initiative aims to simplify and accelerate entry procedures for tourists by replacing traditional paper-based systems with a fully digital process.
The digital visa system is designed to simplify entry procedures and improve the tourist experience at Egyptian airports.

The new system will allow travelers to obtain electronic visas before arrival, upon arrival, through mobile applications, and via dedicated airport kiosks and digital devices.
Travelers will be able to complete visa procedures digitally before reaching Egypt.
The system supports faster visa processing at airport entry points.
Electronic visa services will be available through mobile-based digital tools.
Dedicated kiosks and digital devices will help streamline the process inside airports.
Officials say the move forms part of Egypt’s broader digital transformation strategy and efforts to improve the tourist experience while supporting the country’s tourism sector.
The measures reflect two parallel government priorities: protecting consumers during a high-demand holiday season and accelerating digital services to support tourism and improve Egypt’s airport experience.
